Stages of Company Development
A company has a life, similar to
people, with a beginning and an end.
At The Business Development Company,
we have developed a proprietary
methodology to help your business.
Our methodology breaks the life of a
company into 5 distinct Stages of
Company Development:
Start-Up. The Childhood
Years - you have a vision. During
this stage, you develop plan and
develop a business idea and start
your business.
Validation. The Teen Years -
establishing where you fit in. You
develop the company's own unique
identity and carve out a distinct
place in the eyes of customers. Many
companies never make it beyond this
stage of development because it is
the hardest test for most companies.
During Validation, you will need to
develop a unique value proposition
and convert key customers.
Expansion. The College Years
- rapid growth and development. You
expand your business by pursuing new
customers and sales and make a
significant investment in your
company's future. During the Growth
phase, you focus on sales growth and
you pursue opportunities to expand
your business.
Maximize Profitability. The
Adult Years - a period of adjustment
and refinement. You continue to add
new products and services to grow
and expand your business. Each of
these new opportunities will create
the need to revisit many of the
stages of development that you have
already experienced. For each new
opportunity, your company may
revisit the Validation, Growth, and
Maximize Profit Stages of Company
Development.
Exit. The Senior Years -
retirement and moving on. At some
point, you will decide to exit your
business. You may sell the company,
or merge it with another
organization. If you have planned
properly, you will be able to
maximize the value that you receive
out of your business.
We believe that it is very
important for you to recognize all
of The Stages of Company
Development. At the BDC, we have
developed our service offerings to
help you address many of the
challenges that you will encounter
in each stage. Our goal is to help
you maximize return on the
investment that you make in your
company. |
