Brandi L. Ruffalo, MBA, AVA
Ms Ruffalo is a Principal
and founder of BDC. She has 15 years
of experience in valuation and
strategic business consulting.
Ms. Ruffalo began her career with
Andersen Consulting’s Strategic
Services Group where she focused on
Real Options and Business Strategy.
She worked across seven different
industries and incorporated real
options valuations for projects, new
business ventures, re-deployment of
existing assets, and new product
development. This work required the
evaluation of business strategy
through complex financial modeling.
Ms. Ruffalo left Andersen to pursue
her MBA in Finance at The University
of Chicago and graduated with
honors. After completing her MBA,
Ms. Ruffalo worked in Venture
Capital evaluating investment
opportunities and developing pricing
for investments. Ms. Ruffalo then
co-founded PediaMed Pharmaceuticals.
At PediaMed, Ms. Ruffalo established
the business model, wrote the
business plan, obtained venture
capital funding, and researched and
evaluated new product acquisitions.
In 1999, Ms. Ruffalo founded BDC and
has successfully built a valuation
and financial consulting practice.
Ms. Ruffalo has earned the
designation of Accredited Valuation
Analyst as awarded by the National
Association of Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
She is a regular presenter and
author for NACVA. She earned an MBA
in Finance at The University of
Chicago and graduated with honors.
She holds a Bachelor of Business
Administration in Business
Analysis/MIS from Texas A&M
University.
Michael D. Ruffalo, MBA, EA
Mr. Ruffalo is a Principal at BDC
and has over 15 years experience in
consulting, financial management,
and corporate finance. He brings a
mix of finance, accounting, and
strategy skills to BDC.
Prior to joining BDC, Mr. Ruffalo
was Chief Financial Officer for
multiple growth-oriented,
middle-market companies. At these
companies, Mr. Ruffalo helped
establish and refine financial and
accounting infrastructure, controls,
processes, and systems.
Additionally, Mr. Ruffalo helped
evaluate mergers/acquisitions and
other funding requirements.
Mr. Ruffalo also worked as a
strategy consultant for a number of
firms, including Andersen Consulting
(now Accenture), Gemini Consulting,
and Renaissance Worldwide. As a
consultant, he helped Fortune 500
companies across a number of
industries with a variety of
strategic and financial initiatives.
Some of his work included:
shareholder value analysis,
strategic/start-up business
planning, and activity based cost
analysis.
Mr. Ruffalo holds a B.A. in
Economics with Highest Distinction
from The University of Michigan and
an MBA in Finance, Accounting, and
Strategy with High Honors from The
University of Chicago. Mr. Ruffalo
is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
